28.3.2020 - Vacant Associate Editor Position in AOGS – Deadline for application 15 April 2020

A Wonderful Opportunity for Nordic Obstetricians & Gynecologists with an Academic Interest

There is a vacancy for an Associate Editor (AE) position in the Editorial Board of Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica (AOGS). This is a wonderful opportunity to get directly involved in improving our journal that has an international readership and increasing impact. Current Impact Factor is: 2.741.

To be eligible to apply, the person must be a member of NFOG (members of the national obstetrics and gynecology societies of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden are automatically the members of NFOG), have sufficient academic qualifications (have a PhD and preferably be at an academic level corresponding to a Professor, Associate Professor, Docent or University Lecturer) and clinical expertise/experience (be a specialist in OB-GYN). However, the most important things are that the person has high ethical standards, respects to others´ opinions, especially when communicating delicate matters, is willing to teach as well as learn from colleagues, works with efficiency but pays attention to details, and highly motivated to do the editorial work. The person has to be active as a researcher/clinician (i.e. should not be a retired person). We need a candidate who is reliable, understands the value of quality control in research, takes the editorial task seriously, and is willing to improve and promote AOGS.

Prior experience working as an editor in another journal is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. Good knowledge of written scientific English would be very important, desirable and helpful.

The AE position is for a maximum of 8 years (4+2+2), provided satisfactory progress and performance, which will be evaluated regularly. There is no salary but you will get reimbursed for travel, conferences, computer, telephone etc. for up to an average of 35000 DKK per year depending on the number of manuscripts handled. You are expected to handle on average about 25-30 manuscripts per year.
